International Youth Day is celebrated on August 12 every year. As this year’s theme is Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages, the Department of French 22 UG and PG students, along with 4 teachers, went to visit and entertain the 85 inmates of the House of Providence, Kochi.
Students and inmates did some danses, sung some classical and modern songs, played some games, and inmates shared their good old time memories.
Thanks to the generosity of students and teachers, gifts and traditional chips were offered to inmates and sisters.
The objective of International Youth Day 2022 is to amplify the message that action is needed across all generations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and leave no one behind. It will also raise awareness on certain barriers to intergenerational solidarity, notably ageism, which impacts young and old persons, while having detrimental effects on society as a whole.
