The Department hosted two main competitors as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The First was a patriotic song competition where students from different years formed groups competed as a team with a medley of patriotic songs. The next was the Great Indian Tour where each year students were given a state of the country whose culture, history and art forms they could showcase in a performance. The students of the department also put together a mime to pay homage to the freedom fighters of the nation. The Independence Day message was delivered by Bharatamba.
