The French department of St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam conducted French fest ‘La fête francophone’. This was an effort to spread awareness of the French culture and an opportunity to showcase the talents of students. It was an All Kerala inter-school and intercollegiate fest, wherein students were able to participate in various literary, cultural and creativity-based competitions. They were able to experience glimpses of the French culinary culture.

There were group song (Ritornello), group dance (feel the beat), salad making (mélanger), fashion show (attire spectra), quiz (jeux d’esprit), spell bee (ink and quill), essay writing (épeler le mot), recitation (wings of thoughts) were conducted in the French language. The highlight of the event was French food fest with French food items such as Vol-au-vent, Quiche, Croissant, éclair, Jam roll, and a lot more.

The overall championship was awarded to Naipunnya Public School, Thrikakara. The winners were appreciated by distributing medals and certificates.

“La fête francophone” was inaugurated by the vice principal of St. Teresa’s College, Ms. Betty Joseph and a welcome address was given by Mrs. Sabeena Bhaskar, Head of French Department. Prayer song and flamingo dance were led by the French students there after the competitions were conducted in different stages.

The Department of French would like to thank all the schools that participated, and all the students who demonstrated their wonderful talent during on-stage or off-stage events.

The Department of French looks forward to the next French Fest and to upcoming collaborations with the Kerala schools.
