The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India, conducted a Financial Literacy and Consumer Protection Programme as part of the G20 – 3rd Framework Working Group Meeting. The event, brought together experts in the field to educate attendees on important topics.

The resource people for the day were Shri R Kamalakannan, CGM & RBI – Ombudsman from Thiruvananthapuram, and Ms Tamanna Mooshahary, DGM from the Financial Inclusion and Development Department at RBI’s Central Office in Mumbai.

The gathering was addressed by Shri. T V Rao, General Manager (Officer in Charge) of RBI Kochi, Dr. Alphonsa Vijaya Joseph, Principal of St. Teresa’s College, and  Rev. Dr. Sr. Vinitha CSST, Provincial Superior and Manager, Teresa’s College. The event was also graced by Ms. Elizabeth Rini K F, Head of the Department of Commerce Regular, and Ms. Ann Thomas Kiriyanthan, faculty member of the Department of Commerce.

About 300 students attended the session, which covered two important topics: the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme and raising awareness about scams and fraudulent practices in our country. Shri R Kamalakannan conducted a session on these topics, while Ms. Tamanna Mooshahary discussed financial inclusion and related policies and programs.
