The Département de Français celebrated La Fête Nationale française on the 18.07.24. The 14th of July, Bastille Day in France, celebrates the end of absolute monarchy, a political system based on unfair privileges and inequality in the French society. The events that happened on Bastille Day, in 1789, marked the beginning of the French Revolution.

This day being really important for the French people and celebrated all over France, the Département de Français takes this celebration seriously as part of the French culture taught to our students.

UG II were in charge of the organization of the day, under the supervision of Caroline Ma’am. The day started with the Reading Day Competition Awards, to reward the students who participated into this competition on the 20.06.24 (told you to stay tunned!): Ashley Johny, UG III Chemistry, secured 1st position ; Anjali Jostin, UG III French, secured 2nd position ; Abina Michael, UG III Chemistry, secured 3rd position. We thanks the 3 of them for their commitment to the French language.

Then came the competitions: decor, fruit salad and French song. Each class (UG I, UG II, UG III, PG I and PG II) were asked to decorate their classroom, using eco-friendly materials. The fruit salad competition was judged based on the harmony of flavours, the display and the taste. The French song competition was a great moment of joy for all!

For these competitions, we invited special guests: Devender, musician and traveller, and his daughter, Maya, a young Franco-Indian lady, who is currently travelling in India with her father. They were both very happy to be part of the happiness and the fun. Teresians being Teresians, our students welcome them with enthusiasm.

The prizes were distributed at the end of the day, in an atmosphere of filled with friendship and sisterhood: the UG II won for the best decor; PG I won the fruit salad competition and the UG III won the French song contest. We ended the day by singing the French national anthem, La Marseillaise.
