The activities of the English Association for the academic year 2024-25 was formally inaugurated by Dr Prasad Pannian, author and Associate Professor in English and Comparative Literature, Central University of Kerala on 5 August 2024. In his keynote address, Dr Pannian alluded to the recent Wayanad landslides and the endosulfan tragedy highlighting the need for geological preservation and emphasised how literature and art are the only way to engage with slow violence. He talked to the students regarding the need for an extended interdisciplinary approach in literature, including the non-human and nature. This was followed by a theatrical performance on the Greek mythological tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice put up by the students of the department.
