The inauguration of the English Association for the academic year 2023-24 was held on July 12, 2023, in the Arts Auditorium from 10.30 AM. The chief guest was Ms. Shinie Antony, an editor, short fiction writer, novelist and an alumna of the college, accompanied by Prof. Santhosh Kumar and Prof. Sangeetha. Students of the II and III UG classes attended the programme. Ms. Antony delivered the keynote address in which she spoke about her experiences in school, college and the workplace. Through anecdotes, she highlighted her relationship with literature and shared lessons from her career journey, allowing students to gain insight into the life of an eminent alumna of the college.

The second half of the programme consisted of the cultural events, with performances from both UG and PG students of the Department of English. The three performances pertained to the themes of women empowerment and feminism. The first event was a choral recitation of the poem “Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing” by Margaret Atwood, performed by II and III UG students. Followed by a classical dance solo by Ms. Maxlin M Maxy from the II PG. The final event was a contemporary dance performance by II and III UG students.
