The Department of Mathematics and Statistics organised a DST-SERB sponsored National Conference on Statistical Techniques and Practices for Applied Statistics and Data Scientists in association with Teresian Research and Consultancy Cell (TRACC) on 2nd and 3rd of February 2023 at St Teresa’s College, Ernakulam. The sessions of this conference were designed to educate students in utilizing statistical reasoning to deal with the present social challenges. The conference brought together leading subject experts and prominent industrialists to share their experiences and research results which indeed exposed the students to the scope and depth of the subject. The conference for the two days was inaugurated by Dr. Tirupathi Rao Padi, Professor of Statistics, and Dean, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences Pondicherry University. The programme was hosted by Ms. Aleen Juliet. The speakers of the conference were Dr. Tirupathi Rao Padi, Dr. Sharvari Shukla, Dr. Asha Gopalakrishnan, Dr. Kaushik Jana, Dr. Dilip Kumar, Dr. Sudheesh Kumar Kattumannil and Dr. Subrata Kundu. Paper presentations were done alongside the classes at separate venues. The valedictory function was hosted on the second day which was succeeded by the proceedings of the students paper presentations.
