St. Teresa’s College partnered with Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan for a joint venture project presentation on 31 October 2018. During the forenoon session three projects were presented by the professors from Sophia on sustainable environment. Prof Guangwei Huang, the director of Environmental Sciences, Sophia, spoke on the research activities undertaken by Sophia University.

Prof. Keiko Hirao spoke on the topic “Gender and Families in Disaster Recovery”.

Prof. Nobuhiro Suzuki spoke on “What do Plants tell us about the Environment”. The professors from St. Teresa’s College presented projects on Teresian Rural Outreach Programmes, Post Flood Agriculture and Socio-cultural Impact of Flood on Women. The afternoon was spent at Kunnukarapanchayat where the Japanese delegation got to visit the post flood scenario. The faculty visited the panchayat office,Payathuruthu, KuthiyathodeandKunnuvayal wards. They interacted extensively with the panchayat secretary and the office bearers and also the public who narrated the flood scenario and their experiences. The visitors from Sophia also did a survey of the flood-affected crops.
