The Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam organized “Feminia” in collaboration with Manorama Quick Kerala, to commemorate International Women’s Day celebrated every year on 8th March. The program held on 22nd March 2024, had several partners, including Sparing as the fitness partner, Craze Biscuits as the biscuit partner, Meno Safe as the hygiene partner, and Hilly Aqua as the hydration partner.

The formal ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Bindu John, Head of the Department, who delivered the presidential address. The program was officially inaugurated by Smt. Lijimol P.T., Sub Inspector, Vanitha Police Station also spoke about the social evil of drugs among youngsters and also about women being victimized and abused by violent partners.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Anil P Mathew, the North Kerala Head of Manorama Quick Kerala.

Dr. John Jacob Mundakottackal, Chief Counseling Psychologist, Restore Mind, Cochin, conducted a formal session on mental health improvement strategies for the students. The day culminated with a self-defense class by Ms. Ann Mary Philip, a Kickboxing trainer, who helped students learn a few self-defense techniques.

A painting competition centered around the theme of women’s empowerment was also conducted for the students of the department. Angelin Joboy secured the first position, while Meghna M.S. secured the second position. The third position was shared by Nandhana M.S and Alleena Anna Aby.

The program aimed to foster awareness among female students on women’s empowerment, mental health, and self-defense. Additionally, the program facilitated networking opportunities among participants and speakers, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
