Value Added Programmes

The Department of Chemistry has established collaborations with the Institute of Industrial Training and Services (IITS), a sister concern of M/s. Energy Instruments & Analytical Services, Kochi. The This value-added course offered to PG students, is framed to have 10 hours of theory sessions and 20 hours of hands on training in instrumental analysis. The theory part will be handled by faculty from IITS. The lab training will be provided at Biogenic lab (ISO 17025 accredited)- NABL accredited food and water analysis laboratory situated at Nettoor, Ernakulam. The lab has facilities for Chemical, Microbial, Petroleum, Nutritional and Heavy Metal Analysis. IITS also has tie-up with EIAS- an organization that supplies manpower to various industries and companies in India and Abroad. This will ensure placement opportunities for the students doing the course in various industries.

The Department of Chemistry introduces students to the fascinating intersection of science and daily living through its Value-Added Course on Chemistry in Everyday Life. This program is designed to blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills, enabling students to create a range of everyday essentials. Participants receive hands-on training in formulating products such as soaps, detergents, sanitizers, floor cleaners, cosmetics, and pain relief creams.

Branded under the name “Teres,” these high-quality, student-made products are currently available within the institution. The course not only cultivates entrepreneurial abilities but also provides students with a profound understanding of real-world chemistry applications. Through this initiative, the department fosters innovation, skill development, and societal impact, preparing students to meet the demands of a sustainable future.
