St. Maria Goretti Public School, Nettoor was the school approved for the Department of Chemistry for TROP activities for the academic year, 2016-17. Smt. Derry Holaday M.G., Faculty member of the chemistry department was entrusted the charge of TROP coordinator of the Department for the academic year. The students of class 8 of St.Maria Goretti School was introduced to the world of Chemistry through a one day worshop on periodic table construction and Chemistry.Three sessions were conducted as a part of lab-skill development program- one day training program for students of Std. X on the topic ‘Acids and bases and pH’, Organic chemical analysis (column and thin layer chromatography, distillation and crystallization) and one day training program for students of Std. X, on salt analysis and determination of pH. A Chemistry Quiz was conducted for the students of class 8 on ‘elements and properties’.

Self-defense training program was conducted for high school students of St. Maria Goretti Public School by Teresian Nirbhaya squad members. “Beyond Self” , the social service outfit of the department of chemistry at Mercy home, for senior citizens run by Carmelite sisters of St Teresa’s convent, Kacheripady as a part of Christmas programme. Students of I DC Chemistry coordinated charity programme at DONBOSCO Thammanam (AMMATHOTTIL-orphanage for girls) as a part of Christmas programme.
