The Department organized a Suicide Prevention Day Awareness Session on 10th September to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day. The goal of the session was to spread awareness about mental health, and the importance of suicide prevention, and to provide students with tools and resources to identify and help those in need. The session featured a keynote address by Ms. Archana Menon P, HoD of the department, she spoke about the statistics and facts related to suicide globally and nationally, Methods of providing support to people experiencing suicidal thoughts, and the significance of early intervention and mental health care. A Q&A session followed the lecture where students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their concerns. Several scenarios were discussed, and the speaker provided valuable insights on how to handle such situations.

The Suicide Prevention Day awareness session successfully raised critical awareness about the importance of mental health and suicide prevention among participants. Attendees gained a deeper understanding of the warning signs, risk factors, and preventive strategies to address suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The session emphasized the need for empathy, open communication, and support systems, encouraging participants to engage in compassionate dialogue with those who may be struggling.
