With technology becoming an integral part of everyday life, students in grades 8, 9, and 10 are increasingly interacting with digital platforms. However, many lack foundational skills in coding and awareness about cybersecurity threats, leaving them ill-prepared to navigate the digital world effectively. Introducing coding at this stage fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, equipping students with skills essential for future careers. Simultaneously, cybersecurity awareness is vital to help students understand the risks associated with online activities, such as cyberbullying, phishing, and data theft, and to encourage safe and responsible use of digital tools.

This session on cyber security was conducted at HIHS, Ponnarimangalam . The main aim of this session was to provide the students with information about cyber attacks and their various types.  Also an introduction to the world of software coding was given .We believe this session was truly informative and useful to all the students present. Speakers of this session include Saniya Sajo , Aleeta Mary and Kavya Suresh (Students of BCA(CT &ISM), St.Teresa’s College (Autonomous) , Ernakulam).

The activity successfully enhanced students’ digital literacy by providing them with foundational coding skills and essential knowledge of cybersecurity practices. Participants gained a better understanding of safe online behaviours, enabling them to recognize and respond to threats such as phishing, cyberbullying, and malware. The sessions fostered critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, empowering students to explore the potential of technology confidently and responsibly. Additionally, the program inspired many participants to consider future opportunities in technology-related fields, laying the groundwork for further learning and career exploration. Overall, the activity contributed to building a security-conscious and tech-savvy mindset among the students, preparing them for a rapidly evolving digital world.
