The enterprising student team of the Business Plan consultancy division of the Department of Management Studies(B- Plan Studio) emerged winners of the Green Innovation Fund jointly sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Kerala Start-Up Mission (KSUM), and the Haritha Kerala Mission (HKM). Their maiden project – Kalipaatam, assigned to them by Society for Teresian Environment Protection(STEP), was one among the top 10 entries and selected for the winning grant amount of INR 7 Lakhs after multiple rounds of business pitching before expert panel members.

The department heartily congratulates the team members – Sheethal Sajan Cheru, Gowry Sudarsan, Sikha S Baiju, Krisha V Khona, Pooja Radhakrishnan, Rhea Joseph, Agna P.J, Meenakshi R Iyer, Theresa Abraham Tharakan, and Arathi Nambiar.

STEP

 

Society of Teresians for Environment Protection

STEP is a charitable and literary organization formed by students and faculty of St. Teresa’s College Ernakulam.

It is registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific & Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955 (Act XII of 1955).

So the objective is to carry on activities for protection and conservation of the environment.

Hence promote usage of biodegradable products, promote social entrepreneurship among students, provide livelihood to Kudumbasree members etc.

Moreover,  the products are stitched by Kudumbashree members of the Cochin Corporation. Therefore, implementing Green Protocol in the college campus.

As part of this mission students are provided an eco-friendly cloth college bag and a cloth carry bag.

More over bags which serve as an alternative to bags made of rexin and plastic carry bags. Accordingly, students are  provided with steel cups to make the campus free of plastic and paper cups.

The college has also undertaken the ‘Ente Haritha Bhavanam’ project, the brainchild of the District Collector and a joint initiative of Ernakulam District Administration, District Suchitwa Mission and St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam.

It has provided a unique platform for college students to contribute to environmental protection from their own homes.

The college actively involves in environmental activities promoted by the local government, bodies and students are instrumental to implement those activities.
