Pedalathon 2022- 07/06/2022
A cycle rally was organised in connection with the 4th Anniversary celebration of Railway Childline Ernakulam. Titled as Pedalathon 2022, the program aimed at stopping child abuse. The rally was organised by the Welfare Services Ernakulam with the support of NSS Unit 41 and Department of Sociology, St.Teresas College (Autonomous), Ernakulam.
The Pedalathon was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Lissy Mathew, principal of St. Teresas College and Fr. Jose Koluthuvelil, Director of Sahrudaya. The program also had the presence of Dr. Sr. Suchita CSST, head of the department Sociology, Smt. Elizabeth Abraham, faculty in Sociology, Dr. Jency Teresa, NSS Programme officer.
The program was coordinated by the Railway Child Line Team. The Pedalathon was flagged off by 11:00 am from JLN Stadium metro station and ended at Ernakulam South Metro Station. About 30 student’s active participation made the program a great event. The officials of the Railway Child line, Ernakulam received the students from Ernakulam South Railway. Ernakulam Railway Child line coordinator Ms. Amrutha Shivan gave a small briefing about the activities and working of the Railway Child line. She had stated that, since 2018 they had rescued about 657 students who were found wandering around the platform or alone. Students raised doubts regarding the same and thus it was very interactive as well as informative. Some among the students showed interest in working with them when she detailed about the very impressing works of the Child line.
