e-Governance lays the foundation and provides the impetus for long-term growth of the country. It also promotes corrupt free-responsible government which helps in achieving economic growth and development. This aims at enhancing inclusive development which includes various sections – physically disadvantaged, women and other groups – in governance and development activities.
e-JAALAKAM SESSION AT THRIKKAKARA ON 19-7-2015
As a part of a TROP activity an e- Jaalakam training session was organized by the department of Economics, St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam in association with EDRACC Kadavanthra at Adattillam, Thrikkakara on July 19th 2015. Dr. Nirmala Padmanabhan, the chief resource person explained the various e-Governance services to the audience. A four member group of II B.A Economics under the leadership of Maria Ashmy demonstrated the various steps for accessing these services in a simple manner. The sessions adopted a life cycle approach and covered various services which might have to be entitled by a citizen start from birth and ending in death.
e-JAALAKAM SESSION AT VADUTHALA ON 27-9-2015
As a part of the extension activity of the department of Economics, an e- governance training session was conducted in Vaduthala on September 27th 2015 from 2pm to 4.30 pm. The venue was St. Antony’s Parish Hall Vaduthala. The session was organized in association with Ernakulam District Residents Association Apex Council (EDRAAC). The training was given for the residents in Vaduthala on various e-Governance services of the government. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Ludi Louis, M.L.A. and Smt Ponnamma Paramehwar, District vice president, EDRAAC delivered the presidential address. Smt. Pearly Antony O., Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, St.Teresa’s College explained the importance of e-governance to the audience. Smt. Asha Pius (councilor) felicitated the gathering.
The services explained in the classes are those which a citizen may need sometime or the other in their life cycle and include downloading birth, marriage and death certificate , online tracking of case status in high Court , tracking files in government of offices , checking status of Aadhar card , ration card , electoral roll , payment of utility bills etc. The session was handled by Reshma K.N , Arya Thyagarajan of I M. A and Smt. Pearly Antony O, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, St.Teresa’s College, Ernakulam
The training session was followed by an interactive session and there was active participation from the audience. The entire participant said that it was a very good awareness programme for them. For further reference Vivaranidhi – A citizens hand book were distributed. Most of them said that it would have been a loss if they haven‘t attend the programme. Session was over by 4.30 P.M.
An e-Jaalakam training session took place at St. Ann’s Church, Eloor, on 3rd January 2016. There were approximately 50 people in the age group 30-60 present at the session.
It was an opportunity for people to know about the different online services offered by the government. Three students from the second BA economics under the guidance of Ms. Priyanka, faculty, Department of Economics, enlightened them on the various services they can get online, starting from how to generate a birth certificate to how to pay your bills. The session was quite useful for everyone who attended it.
An e-Jaalakam session took place on 28th February, 2016. The session was conducted in Panavally village, Alleppy. Aleena Chakola and Parvathy S Nalonnil of II BA economics were the e-Jaalakam Master trainers for the day.
The session envisaged a comprehensive coverage of e-Governance services and a step-by-step process on how to avail them. The session convened before a short question and answer session where doubts regarding e-Governance were entertained by the trainers.
