Mahatma Gandhi University BSc Results 2013-2016 batch

The Department of Chemistry has come out with flying colors in the recently published University BSc Examinations this year. The Department bagged 11 A+ this year. Following are the students who secured A+ grades.















The Department is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year.

The celebrations began with a Holy Mass at Anugraha Chapel on 1st of July.

The activities started with the inaugural ceremony on 4th July, 2016. The formal function was followed by a talk by Dr. Sabu Thomas, Professor, School of Chemical Sciences and the Hon’ble Director of Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

Living Brave 2016- a self defense training programme for students

The Department organized “Living Brave 2016” a 20 hours self defense training programme for students of the college in association with Kerala Police, Vanitha Cell, Kochi City.

To attract students to this initiative, a “sthreesuraksha” rally was conducted by the Department on Independence Day in Kochi City sponsored by Kirtilal’s Jewellers, M G Road, Ernakulam. Students interacted with women they met on road and gave awareness to them regarding the importance of self defense. A signature campaign was also organized during the rally.

The inauguration of the Living Brave 2016 was done by Mr. Dinesh IPS, Hon’ble Commisioner of Police, Kochi City in the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium on 17Augurst 2016. A book “Sthreesuraksha”, an initiative of Kerala Police, prepared and edited by Mr. P. S. Rajasekharan, Deputy Director, Police Information Centre was released by him. A “Teresian Nirbhaya Squad” consisting of 100 students from various departments was formed during the function. They received training from Vanitha Cell, Kerala Police in self defense under the expert guidance of Mrs. Shirlet Mani, Inspector of Police and her team in the afternoon session. The Squad will later impart the training to interested students of the college. Inauguration of the TROP activities of the Department was also done by Principal Dr. Sajimol Augustine M. Kalari Guru Mereena and team demonstrated Kalaripayattu as a tool for self defense.

“Coconut Fiesta” to commemorate World Coconut Day, 16.09.15: Organized by Chemistry Association. Events: Poster designing competition on the topic ‘Nalikera Mahatmyam’ and “Magic of Coconut” which involved preparation of low cost items from parts of coconut.

Fresher’s Day Celebrations, 01.07.15: Miss. Reshma Rajappan was selected as the Miss Fresher for the year;

Inauguration of Chemistry Association Activities for the year and Installation of Chemistry Association office bearers, 01.07.2015: The Chief guest of the day was Dr. P. V. Joseph, Associate Professor, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam

Sent off by Chemistry Association to Dr. Anu Gopinath, 24.06.2015: She joined KUFOS as Assistant. Professor in the Dept. of Chemical Oceanography.

Visit to Southern Naval Command, 23.06.2015: 26 students from the department visited the Navy Hydrographic survey ship ‘JAMUNA’. The students got the opportunity to attend classes on Ocean Survey. Working of different instruments for measuring the density, depth, salinity, temperature and pressure, was demonstrated by the Naval authorities as part of the programme.

World Environmental day, 05.06.2015: Students took pledge to protect Environment.
