Department of French and Evergreen Tourism Club organised a Webinar on Rural and Community Centric Tourism, on 28th of January 2022.

Community-based tourism is a type of tourism where local communities invite tourists into their communities, giving them insight into their culture and daily lives. It is a form of sustainable tourism that allows travellers to connect closely to the local community they visit. This year, according to the Ministry of Tourism, the theme is – ‘Rural and Community Centric Tourism’, to focus on rural tourism. It will be observed under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav‘, which is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

As part of the 25th of January National Tourism Day 2022, our Resource Person was Adv. Sijlo Chittilapally Sir, Head of the Department of Tourism Studies, St. Peter’s College in Kolenchery.

Siljo sir shared his field expertise with our UG and PG students. His talk was followed by a very interactive questions and answers session with students.

Thank you Sijlo sir for this great learning and reflecting opportunity!
