A two day hands-on workshop on Introduction to Machine Learning was conducted on 3rd and 5th July 2023 by Ms. Sangeetha Chandran, Research scholar CUSAT. The first session was conducted offline. It was an introduction to the modern emerging subject, Machine Learning. On the first day students got aware about the preliminaries for a machine learning project, theory of ML and also a general idea about the new AI world. The class was very easy to understand even for a beginner because it started from the scratch like , where to start, which are the platforms to perform ML tasks , from where to collect datasets, how to do a project in ML and many more. On the second day which is conducted in online, students got practice in 3 general ML projects, including ML study using Titanic Dataset. It was   such an inspiring session because students got confidence in their projects. The resource person supported students with many project ideas related to ML and mathematics. Also through the interactive session, students acquired a brief understanding about pursuing higher studies in ML related fields. The overall session was very needful and informative for the new technical world.

Outcome of the activity :

• The students were able to come across the concepts of Machine Learning.
• They were able to analyze and understand a dataset and learned the basics of how to teach a machine/system according to human needs.
• The students were able to find out a project in Machine Learning and other related topics and got an idea of pursuing higher studies in ML related fields.
