On the first day, the faculty and 10 students from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, were welcomed by 9a.m Dr. Anupa Jacob, the head of the department of economics, and Mrs Jisha and Mrs Sona Joshy, the Teresian International coordinators, who gave the opening remarks. Prof. John Joseph Puthenkalam, a faculty member of Sophia University, performed the felicitation. After a self-introduction, the students took a tour of the campus. Dr. Vinitha T. Tharakan (Dept of History) presented the first lecture on Kerala History and Society. Ms. Georgia Ann Benny (Dept of Sociology) presented the second session, which focused on Kerala society. Prof. Thushara George (Dept. of Economics) led the third session on India’s economic history which was followed by a question-and-answer period. The international students and our students got along nicely. After the sessions, a typical Kerala meal was provided. They were brought to the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) following the enlightening sessions in the college. Mr. Vineeth gave a brief introduction regarding the startup mission. Later, the kids toured several initiatives, including Maker Village and Fablab. By 5:30 p.m., we had arrived at the campus.
