Department of Chemistry and Centre for Research St Teresa’s college Ernalulam , as part of Sr.Berille Memorial lecture series conducted a seminar on the topic ‘Theoretical aspects of Spectroscopy’ for Msc chemistry students on 9th January 2024 in the AV room Science block. The resource person was Dr.Leena Rajith ,Associate professor, Cochin University of Science and Technology. About 30 students attended this class.

Leena maam’s profound insights and expertise in the theoretical aspects of spectroscopy have left an indelible mark on our understanding. Her class started with explaining history on the development of spectroscopy and ended on its future applications. She covered mainly 3 spectroscopic techniques namely, Raman Spectroscopy, Fluoroscense Spectroscopy, NMR Spectroscopy from its basic level  and also exorted about how we can apply these spectroscopic techniques in our research analysis. Also she gave a clear cut idea about the relationship between quantum mechanics and spectroscopy. The clarity and depth of Leena maam’s presentation have undoubtedly broadened students  perspectives and knowledge on this topic. The speaker interacted with the participants and cleared all their doubts. The session was fruitful and informative for all  the participants.
