On the 23rd of February, the Department of French received 3 guests for a session on migraine awareness.
Dr. Vivek Nambiar, Associate Professor, Division of Stroke Medicine, Department of Neurology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi, started the session by defining what a migraine is, the different kinds of migraines one can experiment, why women experience migraine more often than men and finally the treatment to undertake in order to get rid of them.
Dr. Karthika Rani, Department of Stroke Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi, explained to the students who attended the session what changes one could make in their lifestyle in order to avoid migraines or deal better with the migraines they may have.
Finally, Dr. Chameli Ratan, Department of Stroke Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi based her speech on the dietary changes to help those with recurrent migraines.
A survey was also given to the students in the Elysium to gather information about their health and experience with migraines. In the afternoon, a migraine camp was conducted. Our guests did consultations with our students and teachers from the college and gave prescriptions to help them.
