On October 11th, the Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam organized a seminar on ‘Financial Psychology’. The Resource Person for the talk was Dr.Krishnan M, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, S.D College, Alappuzha. Dr. Krishnan M has more than 15 years of experience in teaching at the postgraduate level and has done his Ph.D. in the area of Strategic Financial Management.
The seminar was held in the Arts Block of the campus. Dr Krishnan M., engaged the students about the need to start investing at an early age and the methods to handle money more effectively. He also discussed how psychology is being used in the financial sector- in terms of influencing investment behavior, and decision-making with respect to buying and selling. He also enlightened the students about the future scope of an emerging area- Behavioral Finance. The talk was interesting and informative as Dr. Krishnan shared many real-life experiences and anecdotes that resonated with the audience.
The seminar helped in creating awareness among students about the emerging field of Behavioral Finance as well as the need to handle money wisely. The students also got an insight into how psychology is used in the financial sector and the future scope of Behavioral Finance.
The program was attended by all the UG and PG students of the department along with faculty members.
