The Department of Psychology at St. Teresa’s College, (Autonomous), Ernakulam organized a seminar on Opportunities in Career Counseling for UG and PG students on 29th February 2024. The session was conducted by Mr. Manoj Sebastian, UCLA Certified Career Counselor The main objective of the program was to emphasize the importance of making informed decisions when it comes to choosing career paths and to highlight the potential consequences of choosing a career without proper guidance. Mr. Sebastian also drew attention to the lack of formal undergraduate and postgraduate courses for career counseling in India, stressing the urgent need for structured guidance in this field.

During the seminar, Mr. Sebastian introduced an innovative solution in the form of a new career counseling course developed by CDA in collaboration with UCLA (Union of California, Los Angeles). This comprehensive course divided into three levels – Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 – is carefully designed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in career counseling. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive certifications and a green belt qualification in career counseling. One of the most appealing aspects of the course is the opportunity for participants to work as freelance career counselors immediately after completing the course, allowing them to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in practical settings.

As a result of the seminar, attendees gained valuable insights and opportunities to pursue rewarding careers in career guidance and counseling.
