“Everything is beautiful, all that matters is to be able to interpret.”- Camille Pissarro

Art is the most remarkable manner of expressing ideas. Nothing can influence humans, more than a work of art. For all the art lovers among students, the Department of French organised an international webinar on the topic, ‘Parlons de l’art Français’- Let’s talk about French Art- on 27th Oct 2020. The resource person for the session was Ms. Graziella Laurito, who is a native of France and also a former faculty of the Department of French.

The topic was presented in such a manner as to be easily grasped by the audience, though it covered a range of styles and movements. Various terminologies and techniques used in the field, as well as their significance were also touched upon. By presenting the viewers with vivid examples of the different styles adopted in different eras, the briefing left them with a desire to learn and discover more of this alluring way of representing what we see around us and our individual relation to it, across cultures. As Ms. Graziella Laurito made a point of noting-Art is this way of powerfully symbolising a culture’s views of relating to the world around them.
