INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON OBESITY AND WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
The Department of Home Science Organized a One Day International Seminar on Obesity and Weight Management on the 18th of December 2019. The keynote address on the topic “The Obesity Epidemic” was delivered by Dr. Rajeev Jayadevan President IMA, Cochin and Deputy Medical Director, Sunrise Hospital, Kochi. A session on Weight reduction and weight regain prevention by Dr Fiji Antony, Chief Clinical Dietitian and HOD Dietetics Department NMC Super Speciality Hospital Dubai. Dr Manu Raj Professor, Department of Paediatrics, AIMS Kochi deliberated on the existing FAD diets in his session. Weight management through Bariatric surgery was highlighted by Dr. H Ramesh from Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre, Ernakulam .Ms.Sanu Siddique a Certified Health and Fitness Trainer from the American Council of Exercise highlighted the importance of physical activity in weight management.
The seminar was convened by Dr.Rashmi H Poojara and Smt. Nimmi Jacob was the organizing secretary.
