As part of World Mental Health Day 2023, on October 10th, Ms Anjitha Venugopal, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College Ernakulam led an interactive session on Mental Health is a Universal Human Right at the Women’s Study Centre, CUSAT.

Dr. K. Ajitha, Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Senior Professor & Head, Department of Hindi, Director, Women’s Studies Centre CUSAT, welcomed the gathering. Students and faculty of the Hindi department, CUSAT, office staff of CUSAT along with the members of the Women’s Study Centre, CUSAT and Cochin University Women’s Welfare Organization were part of the audience. Ms Anjitha Venugopal spoke about the importance of maintaining and enhancing the mental health of oneself and others around. Ways of identifying deterioration in mental health or well-being, seeking help and ways to enhance mental and physical well-being were discussed in the session. Queries related to parenting, childhood abuse, body shaming etc. were part of the discussion. Students and faculty members shared their views and experiences related to stigma in daily life. The session was interactive and well-received.
