In order to provide students with the basic knowledge about how to plan a start-up and the steps to be taken towards achieving goals, BCA (CT & ISM), department of Computer Applications organized a webinar on the topic-“How to plan for start-up? Legal & Ethical Steps” along with Institution’s Innovation Council, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous) Ernakulam.

The session was held on 24th February 2021, at 10 am that was hosted by Leah Avin of sem IV BCA(CT& ISM). The session commenced with a prayer song by Ms. Ann George of sem I BCA(CT & ISM) followed by the welcome speech by Ms. Subadra Sudhir of Sem IV BCA(CT & ISM). The speaker of the session was Ms. Cincy Babu Varghese, an entrepreneur and business woman in Kochi who is the founder of the venture “Backeys”, which provides outsourced business support services to organizations like the Kochi Metro. Having worked steadily up the ladder for 18 years, Ms. Cincy has worked in everything from Marketing and Promotions to Administration and Procurements until eventually founding a unique company of her own- Backeys. Her vision is to create more job opportunities and a better work environment for all, and to connect and equip people for that vision, is her passion. She is walking the path towards becoming a renowned business strategist.

The session focused on Business Startup and Entrepreneurship. The intention or the objective of the session was to help the students to plan a startup of their interest. Various aspects of startups were discussed in the program including the idea, mission and legal methods. She emphasized that more than earning for ourselves, startups should be quite innovative that would help the lives of ordinary people.

This leadership talk was strengthened by 88 members of the BCA(CT & ISM) family that concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Shannon Simon of sem IV BCA(CT & ISM).
