The 13th all Kerala inter school/ intercollegiate French Fest ‘La Fête Francophone’ was organized by the students of the Department of French on 7th Dec 2019. The fest served as a platform for the learners of French language to come together and experience the nuances of French language, culture, cuisine, literature, and more. Students from all over the state enthusiastically participated in the various cultural and literary competitions which touched upon various aspects of the French culture.
The day’s events were given a start by invoking the blessings of God. After the inauguration, the Director Dr. Sr. Vinitha C.S.S.T emphasized the importance of appreciating the beauty of the French language and the necessity of learning the language. The audience was then entertained with a dance performance intended to welcome the gathering.
The various on-stage and off-stage events began soon after the formal function. Tournez la musique (Group song), Dansez au rythme (Group Dance), La Haute couture (fashion show), and Bataille de voix (solo song) were the on- stage events. The off- stage competitions comprised Épelez (Spell- Bee), Écrivez un essai (Essay writing), Peindre son visage (Face painting), Légendez votre photo (Photography), Gouter (salad making), Bataille de Films (Short film making), Récitation (recitation) and Elocution (elocution). ‘Fashion show’ and ‘Face painting’ were the two newly introduced competitions. The day came to a close with the prize distribution ceremony. Toc H public school who secured maximum number of points won the French Fest 2019.
The food stalls which offered French dishes like crêpe, mousse, tart, croissants, and more were the most enticing attraction. A description of the fest would not be complete without mentioning highlights such as a small model of the Eiffel tower welcoming the visitors, bilingual banners to tease the brain, and the decorations in blue, white and red. All in all the students achieved success in transfusing the spirit of the French culture to the campus.
