The Teresian Karshakasree Challenge is an attempt to engage youngsters in the task of restoring and enriching our degraded ecosystems – both rural and urban – by focussing on organic homestead cultivation. All the first year undergraduate students have taken part in a MOOC in Organic Farming sponsored by the Mahatma Gandhi University as the first step, planting and tending to kitchen gardens. While felicitating these students, the Teresian Karshakasree Challenge seeks to motivate them to progress to the next level of becoming Green Ambassadors in their respective localities by continuing with ecosystem restoration activities for the remaining two years of their undergraduate life. This is in consonance with the spirit of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030. Students who show sustained efforts towards this aim will be recognised with the title of Teresian Karshakasree at the end of their third year by St. Teresa’s College in association with the Haritha Keralam Mission of the state government.
