Entrepreneur Spotlight
The Department of Commerce (Regular), St. Teresa’s College, actively supports student entrepreneurship by encouraging innovation, creativity, and small business initiatives among students. The department has created opportunities for students to showcase and promote their businesses through social media publicity and departmental events. With the objective of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, the department provides publicity and marketing support, practical business exposure, and motivation for students to become financially independent and creative while supporting small-scale startups and student-led brands.
As part of these initiatives, Entrepreneur Spotlight articles were published through the department’s Instagram page to improve brand visibility and publicity. Student entrepreneurs were also given opportunities to set up stalls during departmental events and programmes, allowing them to showcase their products and interact directly with customers. In addition, the department promoted student businesses through digital engagement and collaborations, helping students gain practical exposure to business operations, customer interaction, and marketing strategies.
These efforts resulted in increased visibility and customer reach for student brands, improved confidence among student entrepreneurs, and enhanced social media engagement for small businesses. The initiatives also encouraged creativity, self-employment, and financial independence while strengthening the entrepreneurial culture within the department. A total of 11 entrepreneurs, including both students and faculty entrepreneurs, were featured through these initiatives. Overall, the Department of Commerce (Regular) continues to play an important role in inspiring and supporting entrepreneurship alongside academics.
