On Monday, 15th March 2022, a workshop was conducted by techbyheart in association with BCA (Cloud Technology and Information Security Management), Department of Computer Applications. The workshop had been conducted via the online mode from 1 AM to 3 PM and was attended by the students of the department of computer applications. Ashwitha Sanjeev, was the MC and began with a prayer song by Maria Soby and Anumol Agustine. Pavi Rose Peter delivered welcome speech and gave an introduction to the resource persons as well.

One of the speakers, Mr. Sreenath Gopinath, BTECH-MBA(Associate Member National Cyber Safety and Security Standard NewDelhi and Director & CMO -Techbyheart India Pvt. ltd Kochi), had begun the workshop by giving an introduction and general aspects of cyber security. The rest of the event was carried on by Mr. Mohammad Resal V, (Cyber Security Analyst at Infosys, Associate Member at National Cyber Defence Research Centre at NewDelhi, Director & CSO Techbyheart India private limited and Mtech first rank holder at CUSAT). He elaborated the various concepts associated with cyber security and ethical hacking. He gave insights to various topics such as

 Cybercrime weapons
 Methods to check if your email data has been breached.
 Hacking and its types
 Dos attacks
 The method of Spamming calls and texts
 duck duck go vs google as search engines
 Keyloggers and their types
 Credit card /atm card fraud
 How skimmers work
 Awareness of fraudulent calls from banks etc
 Methods and time limit to filing complaints in case of data loss
 The exploitation of NFC contactless payment
 Phishing
 Sniffing and Spoofing
 Description of security of android devices
 Cross-site scripting
 Stenography
 Introduction to the layers of the web and Tor browser
 RAT attacks

After the session by Mr. Resal,  another resource person Mr. Dhanoop R (Associate Member at National Cyber Safety Security Standards, Volunteer at National Cyber Defence Research center, Cyber Security Analyst at Techbyheart India Pvt Ltd and Cyber Security Expert at Appin Technology Lab, Kochi) gave a brief explanation on the various Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking-related courses and certifications our students can opt for in order flourish in Information security field. He also spoke on the importance of information security and ethical hacking by describing how necessary it is during modern times.

After the fruitful sessions, vote of thanks was given by Irene Rachel Binoi and the workshop officially came to an end. Overall, the students had been given a very detailed and easily comprehensible lecture on the selected field as well as a clear idea of the Information Security spectrum and the options they have in choosing their careers.
