St.Maria Goretti Public School,Nettoor was the assigned school for the TROP activities of the Department.The TROP coordinator, Dr.Derry Holladay  registered the school for ‘Nalla padam’- an actitivity of Malayala Manorama Daily for schools.On 27 July 2013, a  talk on Natural farming for parents of  students by Mr. Karim K.Puram, a farmer.School students collected seeds and sowed them in the school premises under the guidance of  Mr. Karim K.Puram. Distributed saplings to students to plant at home.The objective of the program was to give awareness and motivate parents and students to adopt natural farming instead of chemical farming.

Students and faculty visited Cafernam Orphanage,  Pachalam, Ernakulam to give support and love to the inmates of the orphanage and make them feel that they are wanted in the society.Various entertainment programmes were conducted, clothes were donated for the inmates. The students and faculty visited Home for Physically Handicapped Women, Govt. of Kerala, Thevara, Ernakulam and celebrated  Eid with the inmates. This was organized by ANTS, Cochin. Entertainment programmes were conducted for the inmates by our students. As a part of the yearly charity work of the Department a sum of Rs. 5500/- was collected from students of the Chemistry Department and using this amount, a Tricycle was donated to a physically handicapped person.The program was a joint venture of the Department of Chemistry and ANTS Cochin .It was a held at Changampuzha Park, Edappally, Cochin.
