Unique Programmes:

Tusharam , a palliative care project initiated St. Teresa’s Community college .Ernakulam ( Autonomous) in collaboration with Lions club of Cochin Metro city aims to provide holistic support to terminally I’ll patients who are family members of students of St. Teresa’s college. Launched in tandem with the centenary celebrations of St. Teresa’s college , the project seeks to bring comfort ,dignity ,and support to those navigating challenging circumstances. The inaugural function is held on 14th December at Arts block auditorium with the presence of Dr. Sr. Vinitha (CSST)Manager ,Director) , Principal Alphonsa Vijaya Joseph ,and senior administrator Sajimol Augustine. Lions club members Dr. Beena Ravi kumar, Mr. Jose Thomas ,Mr. Sajith ,Mr Ravi S Menon were present in the inaugural function. Community college faculty and students have participated in the function.

St. Teresa’s Community College, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Cochin Metrocity, successfully donated cancer medicines worth over ₹1 lakh to patients at the Oncology Department of General Hospital, Ernakulam. This initiative was part of the palliative project “Tusharam.”

The donation ceremony took place at St. Teresa’s Auditorium. and medicines handed over to the hospital’s pharmacy department, where:

This generous donation will significantly support cancer patients in need, providing them with essential medication. The collaboration between St. Teresa’s Community College and the Lions Club of Cochin Metro city demonstrates a commendable commitment to community service and palliative care.

 

Alpha Palliative Care, in collaboration with NSS Unit 41 and Community College, successfully organized a walkathon on October 8, 2024. The event, part of the Students Initiative Palliative Care, drew over 100 enthusiastic student participants.

The walkathon commenced at Marine Drive and concluded at Rajendra Maidan in Kochi. The event featured insightful talks by:

– Mr. Noorudeen, Chairman of Alpha Palliative Care
– Lt. Col. Lalitha (Retd), faculty member of Community College

Both speakers emphasized the significance of student involvement in palliative care, providing valuable perspectives and insights into this field
The walkathon served as a platform for students to understand the importance of palliative care and its impact on society. Alpha Palliative Care and its collaborators are commended for organizing this meaningful event.
