As part of the ‘Professional Grooming Series” of the Placement and Career Guidance Cell of the Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, a Two Day Workshop on Setting S.M.A.R.T Goals was conducted on February 23rd, and 24th, 2023 at 10.30 a.m. for the B.Sc Psychology Second year students.

Mr. Jubin Joy, Associate Manager at Ernst & Young, UK. conducted the workshop for the students. Mr. Jubin Joy has been associated with the Business Development (BD) team of EY since 2015 as a Senior Associate and has worked on the bid process of many MNCs that predominantly operates in sectors such as Technology, Telecommunications, and Media. As part of the Business Development process, he was actively involved in Research and Analysis, Project Management, and Proposal Development process.

Mr. Jubin Joy discussed the importance of having goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Individual and group activities related to setting S.M.A.R.T goals were conducted. Students were encouraged to identify their goals and to change those into S.M.A.R.T. goals.  Students were also led to brainstorm pathways to attain goals as well as to anticipate obstacles in achieving their goals. Through group discussion, the students generated several ideas for setting and achieving professional and personal goals important for their success. The participants were active and interacted well with the resource person throughout the two-day workshop. The workshop helped educate students about the importance of setting S.M.A.R.T. goals and how it impacts performance. 58 students of the Second year B.Sc Psychology program attended the workshop.
