As part of the Power Talk series organized by the Department of Management Studies, a session was taken by Mr. Gopakumar, Analytics Consultant at EY, Cochin. It was held on 19th October 2019 for the students of PGDM – Business Analytics. The session was kicked off with a Welcome Address by one of the students at 9:30 am.
Mr. Gopakumar began the session by providing the students with a brief introduction of himself and his career background. Strong research professional with a PGDM focused in Marketing, Insurance & Banking from SCMS-COCHIN, his transition from a management/commerce background to a Business Analytics was awe-inspiring.
He also ensured to brief the students about the scope and applications of business analytics, the current software, and tools used in the industry and various online platforms to learn, up-skill and re-skill the same. Mr. Gopakumar also answered the very many queries with regards to the job roles of an Analyst and practical application of business analytics. An interactive session wherein the students got the opportunity to clarify doubts in choosing a career path as a Business Analyst.
He also provided an in-depth understanding of the relationship between business analytics and marketing. Mr. Gopakumar also brought out the real-life illustration of the role played by Business Analytics on Facebook in wishing its members on their birthdays, anniversaries.
The session concluded by highlighting the growing opportunities in the current scenario for the field of business analytics and also the different scopes available to pursue a vibrant career in Business Analytics.
