A one-day faculty awareness programme was conducted by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics on “Awareness about climate change and career opportunities at India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Ministry of Earth Science (MOES) Institutions” where we had a resource person from the meteorological department (IMD) to conduct the session. The session began with guiding students about job prospects for Mathematics and Statistics graduates in the meteorological department. The speaker shared insights into working at the IMD department and talked about their personal journey and the challenges they faced to reach their current position. They highlighted exams relevant to this field like SSC and UPSC, and discussed job opportunities in India and abroad. Towards the end of the session, there was an interactive Q&A where students got to clarify their doubts regarding this career path.
