St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, in association with the Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 on 19June 2026 from 9.00 am to 11.00 am. The programme was co-hosted by the Department of Physical Education, NCC Army and Navy Wing, and NSS Unit 41.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Anu Joseph, Principal, St. Teresa’s College. Rev. Sr. Tessa CSST, Director of St. Teresa’s College presided over the function. Shri Hritwik Ranjan IAS, Assistant Collector, Ernakulam, inaugurated the programme. Shri Antony Painumthara, Chairman of the Welfare Standing Council, Corporation of Kochi, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Binoy Devadas, President, AMAI Ernakulam District, delivered the Yoga Day message, emphasizingon this year’s theme: “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”Dr. Anisha Vimal, Secretary, AMAI Ernakulam District, proposed the vote of thanks.

The highlight of the programme was a one-hour practical yoga session led by a team of doctors from AMAI. Designed as a structured and student-friendly session, it included breathing and loosening exercises, pranayama, suryanamaskar, and asanas that support reproductive health, hormonal balance, relief from PCOS-related concerns and effective stress management. The participants were also introduced to face yoga.
