The English Association was inaugurated on Friday, 1st August 2025, with a dynamic and engaging programme titled
‘Poiesis’. The chief guest, Dr Chandradasan (Theatre director, actor, writer, designer, translator and Founder of Lokadharmi Nadakaveedu) delivered a compelling speech on the nature of theatre as a fictional and performative space.
Following the address, students of the English Department staged a drama titled The Lottery, a loose adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s short story of the same name. The performance reimagined the original narrative in a contemporary context, offering a sharp commentary on social conformity and inherited violence.
