The International Pi Day Food Festival ‘πZ^2 A = PiZZA’ held on 21st July 2023 celebrated the mathematical constant π (pi) and its connection to the culinary world. This unique event took place at Gym Plaza, Science Block, where college students creatively designed stalls offering delectable dishes in circular and oval shapes. The festival not only delighted taste buds but also supported budding entrepreneurs by allowing college students to run the stalls and benefit from the profits earned.

A food fest in connection with International Pi day was organized by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in partnership with Teresian IEDC, IIC and InME.

The inaugural ceremony commenced at 9:30 a.m. The event was inaugurated by  Mrs. E.R. Bhavya E P, Assistant Professor and Head of The Food Processing Technology Department . Her graceful presence made the event more delightful. Anu Antony of II DC Mathematics was the student coordinator with Farhana of II DC Mathematics who handled MC and welcome speech for the day. Followed  by a graceful speech by Dr Ursala Paul (Head Of The Department Of Mathematics).

The festival’s theme revolved around the concept of circles and pi, inspiring participants to create food items with circular or oval shapes. From savoury to sweet, every dish showcased innovative interpretations of this theme. College students set up an array of stalls, each offering a variety of circular and oval food items. The food stalls were open till 2:00 p.m. with different snacks and delightful pastry. There were instant food counters. Attendees could indulge in items such as circular pizzas, pies, donuts, crepes, sandwiches, and more. This diverse range catered to different tastes and preferences.

The festival provided a platform for college students to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit. These students conceptualized, prepared, and managed their stalls, learning valuable business skills and gaining hands-on experience in a real-world setting. One of the festival’s notable aspects was its philanthropic approach. The profit earned from the event was directed towards the college students who ran the stalls. This financial support could contribute to their education expenses, fostering a sense of empowerment and independence.
