A two-day faculty enrichment programme was conducted by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics on “Introduction to Optimization Techniques in Machine Learning” on 22nd and 23rd June, 2023 where we had a faculty member from Department of Mathematics, CUSAT, to conduct the classes. The first day consisted of an introduction to python, how to operate on PyCharm community, and how to efficiently use ChatGPT in interpreting and analyzing big data by means of Python. On the second day, the classes were mainly on compressing svd files using python and also image compression using python. On both the days, the classes focused on connecting mathematical concepts to big data analysis.
