About e-Jaalakam

e-Jaalakam , a  Model  e- Governance Literacy Project  of the Department, aims  to enhance the capacity of  the public to access various online services of the Government 

Awards 

  • Dr. Nirmala Padmanabhan, Head, Department of Economics, St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam was honoured with the CSI-Valiant e-Governance Promoter Award for her active involvement in promoting e-Governance literacy among students and the community. The team compiled the URLs of more the 100 useful websites Vivara Nidhi, a citizen’s handbook on e-Governance that handholds the public in their efforts to access 23 core e-governance services and e-Mithram, a handbook for students introducing them to egovernance were also published.

  • Benazir Nazeem Navaz and Irene Lizbeth George of III BA Economics represent the college and Kerala state , in the 19th national e- governance awards organized by DARPG, Ministry Of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions , Government of India at Nagpur from 21st -22nd January  2016

  • e-Jaalakam project won the National e-Governance Award- e-jaalakam has been awarded GOLD under category ‘Outstanding e-Governance Initiative by Academic and Research Institutions’ for the National award on e-Governance 2014-15 instituted by the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances ( E-Gov. Division). The award was distributed during the 18th National Conference on e-Governance  at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 30-31st January 2015.
  • e-Jaalakam Project won the Kerala State e-Governance Award under the Category e-Citizen Service Delivery(Special Jury Award) for the year 2011-13.
  •  e-jaalakam project of the Department bagged the Chief Minister’s Award for Innovations in e-Governance for the year 2014. The award included Rs.2 Lakh cash prize, citation and certificates .

Activities 

Digital India Week Activities

Digital India, is a project of the Government of India aiming in transforming India into a digitally empowered society with digitally literate citizens and thus, bringing India into the mainstream even in International affairs.

During the digital India week, the department organized following activities in the college .

a). one day camp for opening Digi-locker,

b). Debate on the topic “Digital India-Prospects and Problems” , and

c). “Towards Digital India through e-Jaalakam” a continuous programme in association with Ernakulam District Residents Association Apex Council (EDRAAC).

As part of Digital India Week, e-Jaalakam team of the Department of Economics, St.Teresa’s College, conducted a one day camp for Opening Digilocker  on June 30th 2015 with support from Akshaya Project, Ernakulam District.
