The Department associated with the Teresian International team during the Indo-Swedish Student Exchange Program. In expanding their learning on the working of women in the cooperative sectors in Kerala, the team was taken to Parur Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society, Paravur. The experiential learning session helped them to interact with the women in the cooperatives and how their daily life is built.
A very interesting session on how their livelihood is built around the loom and how the changes in the political and social set up have changed the industry was conducted. The students also got the opportunity to interact with some of the grassroot political workers in the region who helped them understand the political viewpoints from a common man perspective. Few students from the department also joined the team who benefitted from the interaction. The interaction offered a cross-cultural perspective of different aspects like social life, climate change, and political scenario.
