The University Grants Commission (UGC) had launched a scheme on 27 February, 2014 for skills development based higher education as part of college/university education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) degree with multiple entry and exit points and Masters of Vocation (M.Voc.) degree (LEVEL 9) with multiple entry and exit points. The M.Voc. Programme is focused on universities and colleges providing postgraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles and their NOS along with broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing M.Voc. to make a meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The Department organizes industrial visits and internship programme in each semester. These industrial visits are related to the subjects of the curriculum which emphasize on the practical knowledge and skill development. Further, to enhance their vision industrial experts, as well as academicians, are invited for seminars and discussion on novel techniques used in food processing. Also, experts from various backgrounds are invited to empower the students on topics such as food technology aspects and placements in industry.

CAREER PROSPECTUS

The programme M.Voc Food Processing Technology would enable students to work as teaching faculty in colleges and universities. They can work as research assistants/ associates in institutes and as project staff in research programmes related to food technology. Students can work as Quality Control Manager, Production Manager, Research Development Officer and scientists in food processing industries.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Eligibility for admissions and reservation of seats for M. Voc. Food Processing Technology shall be according to the rules that no student shall be eligible for admission to M. Voc. Food Processing Technology unless he/she has successfully completed the examination conducted by a Board / University at the undergraduate level in, B.Voc / B.Sc. / B Tech. Degree in Food Processing Technology / Food Technology and analysis / Food Technology / Food Process Engineering / Chemistry / Biochemistry / Botany / Zoology / Microbiology / Home Science or Nutrition as one of the subjects in their curriculum.
