Department of Zoology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam organised an International webinar on “Medical Coding: A Critical Role in Healthcare Today and Tomorrow” in association with CHISS – Center for Health Information Studies and Solutions for students of our College on 30th September, 2020 from 11.30AM to 01.00PM via Google meet online platform. Opening Note of the webinar was addressed by Mr. Gracious C L, HIM Application Specialist, UAE $ Managing Director, CHISS. The presenter of the webinar was Ms. Riya Pereira, Lecturer and AAPC Certified Trainer CHISS-Center for Health Information Studies and Solutions. The following topics were discussed during the webinar: • An introduction about CHISS • An introduction about medical coding • How medical coding works • The job responsibilities • Why to choose Medical Coding Profession • Classification of Medical Coding • The credentials • Qualification to join • Why to prefer CHISS. Q&A sessions were handled by Mr. Praveen Vijayakumar, Manager, Health Information Management, Zulekha Hospitals, Dubai/Sharjah and Board of Director – CHISS. Our students truely benefitted from the same as the webinar provided a clear cut knowledge on the various aspects of medical coding.
