Hands on training on ‘Mushroom Cultivation and Utilization Techniques’

A training programme was arranged on 16-11-2018 for the III UG (VI Semester) students on Mushroom cultivation. The class was handled by Ms. Mariam Jacob and Ms. Minna Fathima of the I year PG Botany under the instructions provided by Dr. Lizzy Mathew, Associate Professor and Research Guide, Department of Botany, St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam. The day’s activity included a lecture on the diversity of Mushrooms, identification of edible mushrooms and their economic significance, making of value added products and cultivation techniques.  All the students were provided with the raw materials to familiarize the technique demonstrated and the session was highly informative and valuable since the students could conduct the procedure on their own. The students could benefit immensely from the training programme and they could utilize the information for extension programmes conducted by the Botany department.
