The Department of Psychology organized a field visit to Santhula Trust Hospital in Koothattukulam, on 8th August 2019 for the 2nd DC Psychology students. Santhula Trust Hospital is a mental health care hospital with 150 bedded in patient residential facility. Santhula Trust Hospital provides a wide range of mental health care facilities and offers internship facilities to students especially post graduate students. 46 students and 2 faculty members spent a half day interacting with the Director of the hospital Fr Edward George and viewing the wards and facilities of the hospital. Fr Edward George briefed the students on the nature of patients seeking help, the counseling therapies offered and also about the stigma associated with mentally ill patients.
