Popular Science Lecture on “From Gene to Gene Editing: Developments in Biosciences” was organized by Department of Botany and Zoology in association with Indian Women Scientists’ Association, Vashi, Navi Mumbai supported by BRNS-DAE on 19th September, 2023 (Tuesday) at Audio Visual Room, Science Block, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam at 2.30 pm. Dr. Susan Eapen, Former Senior Scientist, Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai served as the resource person. The session began with a prayer song by Ms. Ananya J. S. of Ist M.Sc. Botany. Ms. Jovita Jhonson of IIIrd Bsc. Botany welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker. The lecture emphasized various innovative alterations and their successful implementations along with significant contributions made by BARC through Gene editing technology. 88 Students of IInd M.Sc. and IIIrd B.Sc. Botany from St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam and Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam along with their department Teachers were benefited through the lecture. Association secretaries, Dr. Aghil Soorya A of Department of Botany and Ms. Kezia James of Department of Zoology added their presence. The session concluded by delivering the gratitude towards the speaker and the gathering by Ms. Mugdha Madhu of IInd M.Sc Zoology.
