World Tourism Day

September 27th of every year is celebrated as World Tourism Day. And this year(2018) the whole World celebrated World Tourism day and the main theme was based on the importance of digital technologies in tourism.  World tourism day was hosted and celebrated in Budapest, Hungary. Actually, this day is celebrated as an opportunity to raise awareness of tourism’s potential for sustainable development.

As a part of World Tourism Day, the teaching faculty of MTTM(Master in Travel And Tourism) visited the historical monuments at Fort Kochi and Mattancherry on 27th September 2018. Fort Kochi and Mattancherry are having many historical monuments reveals its rich past. Some of the historical monuments of Fort Kochi include Indo Portuguese Museum, Cochin Thirumala Devaswom Temple, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, Vasco House, Bastion Bungalow etc. Now let us see some of the famous monuments of Mattancherry are Dutch Palace, Jew Synagogue, Jew Street, Dharmanath Jain Temple, Pazhayannur Bhagavathi Temple etc.

Thus the faculty of MTTM had visited some of the historical monuments of the Fort Kochi and Mattancherry and had a great day over there. Actually, it was a nice experience for them to explore the monuments and it will also help to share their knowledge based on experience and exploration. Therefore this year’s World Tourism day had provided an excellent opportunity for the faculty of the MTTM department to explore and understand the historical monuments of Cochin. It is sure that this exploration will give them a great experience to share.
